Similar to the of gathering type LOTRO professions, the forester profession is critical if you're going to be a woodworker or tailor. The forester is able to collect wood, treat the wood, and also boil hides. Can you just feel the usefulness of this trade???

You can make gold with the forester selling items on the auction hall, but not as well as the prospector. Wood is typically in much less demand so the prices are much lower. It can also take quite a while to sell them if no one is buying.

If you're planning on being a tailor or woodworker, I'd pick up a vocation with the forester in it. If you're planning on using it to farm resources and sell them for gold at the AH... I'd think very hard about going prospector instead!
