LOTRO Auction House Guide:
Selling Class Quest Items to Make Gold!

This section of the LOTRO auction house guide will help you make the most gold you can from selling those old class quest items from the level 50 class quests. Remember those? Things like bubbling droplets, splintered warg claws...

Most of the items aren't worth the time to gather and sell, but there are a few that can rack up some serious gold for your stash ;)

In this guide I will cover the do's and don'ts of actually posting class quest items up for auction as well as the best items to sell, like:

     • Rune of Winged Dominance
     • Putrid Slime of Helchgam
     • Crimson Gorthorog Horn

Do's and Don'ts of Posting Class Quest Items
There aren't usually many players selling these items. You'll want to check the LOTRO auction house for the item you want to sell first. If there are tons of people selling it then you may want to hold out for a bit. DO NOT get into the habit of undercutting just to sell your item fast. This is a great way to screw yourself by driving prices down. Just be patient. Wait until the prices are at a decent level before posting.

Continue reading and I'll go over the best items to sell and what you can expect to sell them for.

Rune of Winged Dominance
This item has always been the highest selling of the three listed. I'm not sure why, it's actually the easiest to get, but you do have to have the keys to make it easy. It drops from the morroval boss Mormoz in the castle of Carn Dum. You can get this item in about 30 minutes with a good group. If you're a duel boxer or multi-boxer then you can farm this at will once you're level 65. Prices usually range between 8 and 15 gold. In the old days it would go for 25 gold... but that won't happen now with the ability to barter for it with skirmish marks. I would shoot for around 10 gold depending on your server.

Remember, even if you are a solo type player you can make good money off of these. Run skirmishes and trade your marks for a rune of winged dominance. Post it and get your gold. If you have a group of friends or kin mates you can quickly farm this and split the gold. Either way it's probably the easiest gold maker for your time.

Putrid Slime of Helchgam
This item drops from the boss Helchgam in the sewers of Carn Dum. It's a little more difficult to get, but at level 65 is a breeze. Again, you can also trade skirmish marks for it and then sell. This item seems to sell a little lower, 6 to 12 gold. I would aim for at least 8 gold myself. Anything less isn't worth it in my opinion.

Crimson Gorthorog Horn
This item is actually the biggest pain in the butt to get. You have to fight through the troll area in Carn Dum and defeat the troll boss Barashal. It's not really that difficult at level 65, but takes a while to get it. It's rare that many people post one, so it usually sells around 8 to 12 gold.

There are many class quest items to sell. Most of the others don't usually sell for more than a gold or two. If you find yourself with some you don't need, though, check the auction house. Even selling a few for a gold here and there can add up!
