LOTRO Leveling Guide:
Where to Go and When

GameDuell Inc. - Play online games

This LOTRO leveling guide will hopefully make the leveling process a breeze! I've used this method for numerous characters... I have 15 toons at level 65 ;) Nothing was more painful than my first time through the game!

Quests are by far the absolute best way to gain levels quickly. However, knowing the right places to start questing can be tricky when playing the game for the first time.

Once you get the hang of it, you will find yourself progressing through The Lord of the Rings Online very quickly. My LOTRO leveling guide will show you:

     • the best quests and areas
     • Where to go for your level
     • Places and quests to avoid
     • The best order to complete quests for the fastest leveling
     • Tips for power leveling

Following the guide will advance your character easily from level 1 to 65. It contains the locations I've used over and over to quickly level. This guide is for all players, including those new to the game, casual players, and even power levelers.

One quick thing to remember - It is better to stay a couple levels ahead of the quests. This makes for the easiest and most efficient path through most mmorpg games. For example, try not to move on to a level 15 questing area until you're level 16 or 17.

Basically, just follow the LOTRO guide. It ensures you will have plenty of easy quests to complete throughout the entire game. If you get ahead of yourself early on, you can have a rough time once you get to Moria and Mirkwood.

Are you ready to begin? Let's go to the LOTRO leveling guide!

All content is arranged by level so scroll to your appropriate link and enjoy. Happy hunting!

Oh, if it's your first time through, you may want to check out the LOTRO guide on Setting Up the Quest Tracker, Understanding the Colors of Quests and Mobs, and Using the Quest Log before you begin.

Level 1 - 6: Introduction Area

This is the area you will begin if it is your first character in The Lord of the Rings Online mmorpg. This area is skip-able once you have done it on one character. Click here if you are making your very first character.

Level 6 - 15: The Starter Zones - Ered Luin, The Shire, and Bree-land

Once you have made it out of the introduction instance, you will be here. You have a lot of choices and easy quests to do. Jump into the LOTRO guide here when you're ready to start adventuring.

Level 15 - 22: Bree-land

In this part of the LOTRO leveling guide you will finish up the quests in Bree-land. Get ready for the Old Forest and the undead in the Barrow Downs!

Level 22 - 32: The Lone-lands and North Downs

Hope you saved up your gold ;) These two zones have a ton of great quests, but you will need to jump back and forth between zones to maximize your leveling. Learn to love the stable master!

Level 32 - 40: Evendim and the Trollshaws

I have a great time in these two zones. Evendim has a great feel to it and I just loved the creepiness of the Trollshaws. You'll have to jump back and forth between zones again a bit here to make your leveling efficient.

Level 40 - 48: Angmar, the Misty Mountains, and Forochel

Now it's off to what used to be the "end game" areas back in Shadows of Angmar. Leveling slows down a bit from here on out, so get ready for some serious quest grinding. Hopefully this LOTRO leveling guide will save you some time here. It's not as difficult as it was when the Lord of the Rings Online was first release, but can still be a pain if you don't know where to go.

Level 48 - 51: Eregion

Time to start grinding your way to Moria. After all the snow in Forochel and the Misty Mountains, this region is a welcome change! The leveling slows down a bit more now... welcome to the Mines of Moria expansion ;)

Level 51 - 59: The Mines of Moria

Get ready to plunge into the mines... Take a good look at the sky before you go in. Soon you'll be looking forward to green fields and open skies again! The mines are a little confusing at first, but this LOTRO leveling guide should help you get through without too much trouble.

Level 59 - 65: Lothlorien and Mirkwood

You may want to grab some coffee... it's a boring time in Lothlorien in my opinion... Although some people love it...

Easy area, lots of quests...

Amazing views and scenery, it is quite a beautiful place...

Lots of running around...

All for rep... bleh!

Luckily you only need Acquaintance standing to get in and to get to Mirkwood, so it's not too bad. In fact if you're behind on levels Lothlorien will kind of save you. Make sure you're at least level 60 before leving Lothlorien and your time in Mirkwood will be much easier!

Mirkwood is the final leg of the journey... for now ;) I enjoyed Mirkwood a lot. Finally, Turbine figured it out! The quests here were extremely well organized. All of the quests are centrally located around camps that minimize wasted time running around. The last 5 levels go very quickly.

I hope you found my LOTRO leveling guide helpful. Remember if you leveled through the game quickly you will want to go back now and work all of your important traits.
